Hogan's painting do not claim to be a social commentary. The statement in his series "Lush" is personal. Usually expressing his inner struggle, Hogan desires to hold on to dreams verses the instilled belief that these dreams are irresponsible, childish... something you do later in life. Hogan feels these beliefs are constraints, something you'll regret later in life.

Hogan attempts to achieve the tension of his struggle with his paintings. The paintings are hope, the passion his dreams are built on.

See the beauty in the darkness... hold on... remember wonder.
